If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that AT&T recently dropped the price tag of Apple’s last generation iPhone (the iPhone 3GS) to just $49 with a 2-year contract. This came as great news for those looking to get down on Apple’s iOS but choose not to opt for the iPod touch or iPad. However, while AT&T grabbed this deal the iPhone 3GS was still listed on Apple.com for $99 for quite some time.

Well, it looks like that has all changed as Apple has just updated their website now showcasing the new and improved $49 iPhone 3Gs price tag. Of course, there isn’t much more to go along with this announcement other than there is a great deal to be had here.

I wonder if this is AT&T frantically trying to grab as many customers as possible before the rumored Verizon iPhone is launched. We’ll have to wait and see.
