While I was wandering around the floor at CES 2011, looking for something new, I happened to find the WOWee One portable speaker. It was something that I reported on before, but never had a chance to try out until now.
Similar to the Tunebug, the WOWee One is a speaker that works infinitely better when put on a flat surface. As seen in the video, some surfaces work better than others. A wooden table works pretty well, and if you have what they call the “Hang”, it can mount to glass.
The WOWee looks like it was made for an iPod/iPhone, but is compatible with anything with a 3.5mm headphone jack. As for power, it is USB rechargeable for up to 20 hours of playing time.
You should be able to purchase the WOWee One for about $79.95 on the company website.
We previously reported two months ago that iHome was working on the iW1 AirPlay Wireless speaker, and they have completed it and put it on display for CES 2011.
I got to see it last night at CES Unveiled, it is about time iHome entered the world of wireless music streaming with Airplay for playing music over a home Wi-fi network from iTunes, an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. It can also go off of a USB port.
I’m told that it is easy to connect to a home network via WPS or iHome Connect App, available for free. The device has an internal rechargeable Lithium-ion battery and has a remote control for even more convenience.
Well, I was hoping to end this post with a price and availability date, which was something I didn’t have before. However, the press kit that iHome gave me didn’t have it. You can click on my Source to see if anything has changed, though.

I’m not sure whether this is a leaked image or an actual release, but this is the O’car from Oxygen Audio.
As you can see, it is a car stereo that has a port designed just for the iPhone and can swivel in any angle. So now the iPhone is on your car. I suppose that we all saw this coming. After all, Guys in California put the iPad in a car, BMW seems ready for an in-car revolution, and Soundman also has one.
As you may have guessed, there will be apps for everything needed behind the wheel, and it will automatically dim audio programs for voice prompts if turn-by-turn directions or receiving phone calls is needed.
The O’car will debut at CES 2011, and then it will show up in the first quarter of 2011 for $299.
