When you think of gaming perhaps you think poker, maybe you think of the Nintendo Wii or Xbox 360 or hell, maybe you even think hunting. However, thanks to the popularity of Facebook and its partners, gaming is quickly beginning to be associated with online games like FarmVille and Mafia Wars, no matter how bad we don’t want it to be.
Regardless of our dislike associated with this movement, there is no denying the fact that FarmVille, Mafia Wars and their creators Zynga are immensely successful. Those of you who have hopped on both the Zygna and Android bandwagon will be happy to hear that the company has recently announced their intentioned to bring Mafia Wars to the Android platform sometime this month.
The game has already been available in app form on the iOS platform for quite some time but now it seems like it’s Android’s turn to receive some love from the Mafia (Wars, that is).
It really has been a while since I heard Brooke Shields do anything. I think the last major thing I saw her in was a Latisse ad.
This is Juno’s Musical ABCs, an App that I am told is absolutely free, and is designed to teach children about the alphabet, as well as music and instruments.
Anyway, you should check it out now if you have kids that are into that sort of thing.
While Google’s Android mobile operating system is becoming quite popular, it is not yet the top dog. In fact, over in the UK Android is trailing both Apple’s iOS and Nokia’s Symbian – but that may very well change soon enough. Of course, this lead shouldn’t be too surprising considering both iOS and Android launched considerably earlier than Android, but we’ll save that for another story.
Anyways, it seems that if current trends continue, Android is on track to surpass both iOS and Symbian in terms of marketshare in the UK. Word comes from IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo who recently say down with Bloomberg to let us know that he feels Android will most likely oust both Symbian and iOS sometime in 2011.
Of course, seeing how this is only an analyst’s speculation it is far from set in stone. However, it’s no secret that Android’s installbase is growing exponentially each and every day so it would make sense that it would one day be the number 1 used mobile operating system in teh world.
For some reason, the Sony Ericsson CEO Bert Nordberg hinted to something about a some sort of reveal at Mobile World Congress in February of next year.
Everyone thinks that it is the PlayStation Phone, the one that is still not really confirmed. Some people could say that it could be the Anzu, which I just reported about because we didn’t earlier.
This information comes from the Wall Street Journal, by the way, in case you wonder about the validity of it all.
Those who love watching TV on the go will be pleased to hear that Hulu Plus is now available on iOS devices. The preview phase is over and the service will now be available to all iPhone and iPad users for $7.99 a month. For those keeping score at home, that’s $2 cheaper than the cost on any other device. Those who have been paying the higher rate during the preview need not worry, as your subscription will be adjusted in the next billing cycle and you’ll be given a $2 credit for every month you’ve been a member of the preview program.
While Hulu has always been a great resource for watching current seasons of to television shows, Hulu Plus takes things to the next level by offering the full catalog of hundreds of shows to watch whenever you want. Sure, you can keep up with House or Modern Family, but you can also go back into the vault and watch the full run of 21 Jump Street or The A Team. The service already supports over 200 shows from CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox, and the lineup continues to grow at a staggering rate.
Considering the fact that the holidays are fast approaching this app seems like the ideal gift for the constantly moving business traveler or friends who insist on living off the grid and not subscribing to cable. Unfortunately, Hulu Plus doesn’t yet have deals in place with networks like TBS or AMC, so while you can get current episodes or clips of shows like Mad Men or The Walking Dead, most of the content is still off-limits.
Disregarding this rather small hang-up, there’s still plenty to love about Hulu Plus making its iOS debut. If you love having your entertainment on the go then this is an absolutely must-own app.
