Holiday App Sales GaloreGames, Iphone | 3 views No Comments »

Last month our Thanksgiving meals were stuffed with lots of deeply discounted apps, and it seems that publishers are getting into the Christmas spirit in much the same way. We’ve got a whole slew of apps available at rock bottom prices just in time for your holiday celebrations. Make sure and act fast though, as many of these apps are available for an extremely limited time.
Also, be sure and keep checking this post regularly, as we’ll be updating all the new deals as they are announced. Much like Santa, we don’t stop working until Christmas, and we’re paid in milk and cookies. Speaking of, if you could leave out some chocolate chip oatmeal cookies that would be delightful.

I’m not sure whether this is a leaked image or an actual release, but this is the O’car from Oxygen Audio.
As you can see, it is a car stereo that has a port designed just for the iPhone and can swivel in any angle. So now the iPhone is on your car. I suppose that we all saw this coming. After all, Guys in California put the iPad in a car, BMW seems ready for an in-car revolution, and Soundman also has one.
As you may have guessed, there will be apps for everything needed behind the wheel, and it will automatically dim audio programs for voice prompts if turn-by-turn directions or receiving phone calls is needed.
The O’car will debut at CES 2011, and then it will show up in the first quarter of 2011 for $299.

SugarSync Brings Local SyncIphone | 2 views No Comments »

Many people, myself included, have gone almost completely mobile with their data syncing. There’s nothing wrong with syncing your iPhone to your computer to get info, but something about plugging my phone in seems very “last generation.” Through various apps, you can access just about any form of data right off your computer; no wires attached.
Since its launch, SugarSync has been one of the leaders in accessing data remotely. With the app (and the downloadable SugarSync Manager for Mac or PC), you can have complete access of your computer’s files, photos, movies, and music with little to no lag or usability drawbacks. Keeping music on your phone for everyday listening is almost silly with an app like this because you can now have your entire music library with you, whether you are at the office or taking a morning jog.
The only downfall, up until now, is that when you are out of a service location or are forced to turn off data (like in an airplane), you’re left with an empty iPhone, devoid of the media that makes it great. SugarSync version 2.1 remedies this by letting you sync files and folders directly to your device, enabling you to use the selected files for offline viewing. There are obvious space limitations, but having the ability to sync up a movie or two before a long flight is an invaluable resource for some.
Other features of the update include improved performance of photo uploads and file downloads, as well as the ability to lock the app with a PIN code in case your iPhone gets lost or stolen.
SugarSync 2.1 is out now and can be downloaded for free in the App Store. In fact, the entire app is free, so even if you don’t have it yet, it can be had for nothing. Happy streaming!

Smart Pad, developed by Left Coast Logic (which is, oddly enough, based in Washington D.C.), is a new productivity suite that promises to pack as much usefulness as possible into your already packed day.
Like many other productivity suites, Smart Pad includes a Calendar, Organizer, Task Manager, integrated Notes System, and Time Tracker, all of which are designed to look as if they were included in a day planner. While the feature list is fairly standard, Smart Pad brings two features that set the suite apart from the rest.
The day planner in Smart Pad is the most novel feature in the suite. Once you’ve assembled a task list for the ages, the Day Manager feature will ask you how long you would like to work, and then organizes each non-time critical item into the free spaces in your day. This SmartTime logic lets you fill your day with any and all tasks that you have, and even splits up tasks if there is not a large enough block of time to get it done. In a nutshell, Day Manager will fill your day, no matter how inefficient you want to be.
The other special feature in Smart Pad are HyperNotes. HyperNotes works with the note taking feature to make sure that any ideas formed via note taking are easily converted into new tasks, appointments, or reminders. All you have to do is highlight a portion of the notes and the rest is done within the app… it even makes sure to link your new task/appointment to the section of notes that it came from.
The current version of Smart Pad syncs with Google Calendars and Toodledo, and will soon directly sync with the iPad calendar, enabling syncing with iCal and Outlook. The app is out now, so if productivity is something that you are lacking, look no further.
