A lot of buzz has been circulating at CES 2011 surrounding Google’s Android mobile operating system. Not only have a whole slew of different devices been announced running the open source platform but Google also took the time to heavily showcase Android ‘Honeycomb’ 3.0 for use with tablets. However, while several tablets set to launch later this year will be grabbing Honeycomb, many smartphones will be running Android ‘Gingerbread‘ 2.3.
With the gap between 2.3 and 3.0 many have been wondering if Google will be releasing any further versions between the two. While nothing has been said, an image has appeared today showing an Xperia Arc prototype running Android 2.4. As I said, there is no official word as to what this version of Android will be called or if it will even be seeing a public release but it’s interesting to ponder what new features Google has in store for us.
What features would you like to see added to Android? Let us know in the comments.
