08 02 103gfacetime iPhone 4 jailbreak enables FaceTime video calling over 3G

We’d actually already hacked up a 3G FaceTime video call using an iPhone 4 and a MiFi, but now that Apple’s latest handset has been jailbroken, you can toss the extra hardware — you just need a little Cydia app called My3G, which lets you run WiFi apps over 3G. FaceTime video quality appears to be unaffected, but from what we’ve seen the framerates suffer depending on your connection — pretty much what you’d expect to get when running a video stream optimized for high-bandwidth connections on a smaller pipe. Still, it’s instantly the best reason to jailbreak your phone — check a video after the break.

P.S.- If you’re averse to jailbreaking, remember that Fring lets you make video calls over 3G without any shenanigans — and unlike FaceTime, you can also video call non-iPhone users. Just sayin’!

10x080198235jailbre 226x280 Looks like that pesky iPhone 4 has been jailbroken at lastRemember how we talked about how no one has jailbroken the iPhone 4? This is no longer “still coming” anymore.

A company called Comex has started a page called Jailbreak Me, and their hack works on the iPhone 4 and other Apple products.

My Source says that this is a little buggy, but it sounds like it is worth trying. Check my Source for more info.

Apple Peel 520 Hack Turns Your iPod Touch Into an iPhone

You’re going to have to take this one with a huge grain of salt but it seems a company called Yosion figured out a way to turn the iPod Touch into an iPhone. And no, this doesn’t require you to use some VoIP service. This hack, if legit, might be the ultimate iTouch hack ever made.

Basically the “Apple Peel 520″ comes as an iPod Touch case that includes an Infineon baseband chip, an extra 800 mAh battery, and a slot for a SIM card. Just pop a SIM card in and plug your microphone-equipped ear buds and you should be good to go.

The Apple Peel 520 will presumably go on sale this week in China for $45 to $75. There isn’t much proofs this is real so don’t get too excited about it.

doxie scanner 280x187 Doxie Software Update Allows Sending Documents To IPhone And IPadI’m surprised that we haven’t covered the portable document scanner Doxie before, but it has just received an update that is very Mobilewhack worthy.

Apparently, Version 1.2 of the Doxie software allows scanned items to be downloaded to the iPad or iPhone. You can also scan paper and photos directly to Evernote, Flickr, Google Docs.

The Doxie scanner can be purchased for $129.00.
