Just when you thought you couldn’t get any more Angry Birds comes the announcement that the super-successful app will be receiving an update in the form of 45 all-new Halloween themed levels. The update is expected to arrive any moment now, and will cost $.99 for the standard version or $1.99 for the HD edition.
“With Angry Birds Halloween, we wanted to provide our fans with a special treat,” said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. “In addition to this new experience, we will also keep providing continuous free updates for Angry Birds.”
It’s interesting to note that this update is coming from Rovio and not Chillingo, especially in light of today’s purchase of Chillingo by EA. Rovio owns the rights to Angry Birds, so content updates such as this one or even a full-fledged sequel will come from Rovio and not Chillingo/EA. Just something to keep in mind going forward as we await the inevitable Angry Birds Christmas/Festivus/Kwanzaa/Hanukkah pack.
While you wait for the update to release please enjoy the gallery of new screenshots, which manage to be both spooky and adorable at the same time. It’s a lot like when you dress your dog up for Halloween, but with a lot less animal cruelty.

There is a whole slew of different mobile games available for the various mobile operating systems. This large library of games is thanks to the various mobile application stores such as iOS’ App Store and the Android Marketplace. While many of these games have seen critical acclaim, there are some that stand out from the rest both in terms of gameplay and sales numbers.
Angry Birds from Rovio, for instance, has long been the number one most sold iOS application in the store and has seen high reviews across the board. While the game has already been available on the Nokia N900 for some time, it’s only been available for Google’s Android mobile operating system in beta form. Luckily, if you’ll remember, we told you that the final version of Angry Birds wold be coming soon. In fact, the final version was expected to debut this week but it seems that the game has been pushed back.
Rovio has notified us of this delay and lets us know that it has to do with problems surrounding multitask support. However, there is hope as Rovio says this will only cause about a week’s delay and Android users can expect to see Angry Birds on the Marketplace sometime next week.
We’ll let you know when.

Software developers have been able to come up with some pretty amazing games for today’s modern mobile platforms. Apple’s iOS, in particular, has seen the launch of several hard hitting titles netting their respective developers a small fortune.
One such title that is immensely popular and available for both iOS and the Nokia N900 is Rovio’s Angry Birds. This game tasks a player with slingshotting several different types of birds at legions of pigs in an attempt to claim back what’s rightfully theirs; their eggs. It may sound stupid, but trust me, it’s an amazingly addictive game that everyone who’s anyone should check out.
Anyways, just last week Angry Birds made the jump to webOS meaning it was available on 3 major platforms. However, Google’s Android mobile OS has yet to see the entry of Angry Birds into the Marketplace. Luckily, that will all soon change as Rovio has announced that they will be launching the public beta version of Angry Birds for the Android platform this Friday.
Rovio’s official statement below:
This week, we were planning to run a closed beta test of Angry Birds Lite for Android. Due to the massive response and demand from the Android community, we have decided to make AngryBirds Lite Beta available for everybody through the Android Market this Friday.
Please note that this will be the beta version of the application which is still undergoing final testing before official release. Angry Birds Lite Beta is presented on an “as is” basis, and we cannot guarantee its functionality on every Android device.
Seeing how they say they cannot guarantee its functionality on every Android device, it would probably be better to stick to only more modern devices when checking out the Angry Birds beta this Friday.
