I must admit that I have never heard of Future Shop, but that is because I live in America. They are one of Canada’s largest retailer and etailer of consumer electronics, and you can have them on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
Having this App will allow users to browse, search the catalogue, secure purchases, as well as view ratings of the products with the Community Forum.
I have a full press release after the jump, and if you want it, you’ll be glad to know that it is free. Too bad it is not compatible with Shopkick.

BURNABY, BC – Future Shop, Canada’s largest retailer and etailer of consumer electronics, today announced the release of their mobile app available now for free download onto iPhone and iPod Touch devices. One of the first retailers in Canada offering an app of this kind, Future Shop is allowing customers the freedom to browse, accurately search entire catalogue of products, securely purchase on the move and much more, such as viewing ratings, reviews and browsing the award-winning Community Forum social media site.
“Future Shop is constantly creating engaging ways to enhance the shopping experience for our customers, especially when it comes to the web and mobile services,” said Todd Empey, Vice President of Store Operations, Future Shop. “We’re extremely pleased to roll out the Future Shop app as a free download to customers everywhere so they can conveniently search, shop and share information with a simple touch. With the thousands of Canadians transacting or dialoguing on social media with Futureshop.ca daily, and the large number owning smart phones, this was a natural progression for us.”

* Social sharing (via Twitter, Facebook, email)
* Promotions and products on sale
* Customer ratings
* Customer reviews
* Product details
* Product browsing
* Search engine of entire catalogue
* Store locator that utilizes geo-location of mobile device
* “Ship to Home” feature using Mobile Checkout
* Secure purchasing of products“Users of the Future Shop app will be thoroughly impressed with the functionality and ease of use, especially at checkout,” said Empey. “This is first iteration of our app, and you can count on us to add new or enhanced features as time goes on. Be on the lookout for versions of our app being offered on other smart phone platforms.”
