SCH u350 Samsung Glint SCH u350 Cell Phone Review–Simple and Mostly GoodIt’s the simpler phones that can sometimes surprise you the most.  I found that out when I took a look at the Samsung Glint SCH-u350, a simple phone that does do simple pretty well.

The Samsung Glint SCH-u350 is a folder-style phone that offers conference call capability, speakerphone, Bluetooth connectivity, a phone book with space for a thousand name and number entries, mobile web, mobile email, text, instant and picture messages, a variety of downloadable content items, a .3 megapixel digital camera with self-timer delay and a variety of special effects for the photos you take with it, alarm clock, calculator, and a battery with five hours of talk time on a single charge.

The spec sheet tells a lot of the story on this one–there’s not much going on here. What is here is pretty solid, and controlling the phone is exceptionally easy to get around on because there’s not much to stumble through.  It’s a simple phone.  Granted, it doesn’t offer a whole lot, but what it does offer is, for the most part, pretty decent.

And if you want simple, then the Samsung Glint SCH-u350 should meet your needs pretty nicely.

The Good

Easy to control

Several worthwhile features

The Bad

Low end camera

Few overall features

Score 6 / 10

Screen shot 2010 08 17 at 8.56.44 PM Tweetmeme Founder Announces Datasift, A Developer Tool For Advancing Twitter Search
Tweetmeme has been on a roll lately. Not only have they partnered with Twitter this month on a new Twitter retweet button, but they have also announced a new search engine product called Datasift.

Datasift is essentially a programming language that can help users with complex searches. An example that TheNextWeb gave was the ability to find “people in New York with over 200 followers who have mentioned Barack Obama in a positive way with no swearing in the past day.”

Datasift is not intended for common Twitter users. Instead it is for developers of Twitter-centric software to build advanced search tools. This would be beneficial to Tweetdeck, Hootsuite, Seesmic, etc.

Twitter has provided a lot of support to Tweetmeme on this new product. Datasift will make money by offering free streams with built-in ads and paid streams where developers for content volume.

iphone spy stick 280x162 iPhone Spy StickWelcome to the age of the iPhone Spy Stick, and say goodbye to privacy.

Actually, I don’t think this is designed to be an evil espionage tool. It is designed to plug into your computer with your iPhone, and you should be able to recover deleted texts, appointments, contacts, and even Google Maps searches, provided they are on your iPhone.

It only supports Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7, and only works on iPhones running iOS 3.2.1 and earlier, with support for iPhone 4 coming this summer. The price is pretty pricey at $199.95.

samsungpmp Android Powered Samsung YP MB2 Portable Media Player Appears on Camera

While most of the media is focused on today’s latest smartphones like the iPhone 4, Droid X, Samsung Galaxy S and more, the market for portable media players is still alive and kickin’. Sure, most of these smartphones are more than capable of being portable media players but iPods are still selling like hotcakes so why shouldn’t some other companies get in on the fun?

One such portable media player from Samsung is dubbed the YP-MB2. This PMP runs Google’s Android mobile operating system and is said to feature some very highly sought after features. These features include a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 1GHz processor, Bluetooth, WiFi and a 3 megapixel camera. You can’t help but notice that these are essentially the same specs as the Samsung Galaxy S minus cellular radios – think iPod touch to iPhone, but with Android thrown in.

There’s no telling when this will be released or for how much money but our sources suggest it will hit South Korea before making its way overseas. We’ll keep you posted as the story unfolds.

kinect Xbox 360 Kinect Coming to Europe, Middle East, Africa on August 10th

Microsoft’s Kinect motion sensing controller for Xbox 360 is looking to revolutionize the way we play games by utilizing a 3D camera capable of tracking a user’s entire body along with voice and facial recognition. Now, it’s not exactly mobile but it does get you up and off the couch so that’s a bit of mobility there for you, eh?

Anyways, we’ve known for quite some time that Kinect would be hitting North American shelves sometime in early November but our friends across the pond in Europe haven’t had the luxury. Instead, they’ve been left generally in the dark when it comes to a release date for the Kinect motion controller.

Today, however, it was announced that Europe will in fact be getting Kinect on August 10th, 2010. The Middle East and Africa will be getting the controller on the same day, as well. As for a price, well, we have confirmed that its £130 in the UK so perhaps that price will translate into the other mentioned regions as well.
