Call InfoFields is a new mod that lets you add an extra contact field of your choice to be shown when you are receiving a call, (ie. Job Title, Email, URL, Address or any other field of the contact that is calling you).

To set it up, just go in the settings and select what additional field of information you would like to display when you receive a call (ie. birthday, URL, job title of the contact, etc…). Obviously this information needs to be populated by you for each contact to be displayed on your phone. Read More

Apple Special Event Sept 1 2010 Apple to Hold “Special Event” on September 1st

Surprisingly, we didn’t get an invite for this, but TechCrunch did, and according to it, Apple will be holding a “special event” on September 1st, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco at 10 am.

The invite comes with the image above, which strongly indicates the event will most likely be focused on music. Let the speculations go wild! What are they going to unveil? My guess is we’re going to hear about the new iPod Touch with a nice Retina Display and a front-facing camera for FaceTime. Apple will also probably unveil a cloud-based version of iTunes…  Read More

IMG 000614 225x300 iDesk for iPad ReviewThe iPad’s generous 9.5″ display makes it more appealing to those who are more pictorially interactive, using the iPad for more than just text-based purposes. iDesk for iPad is a canvas drawing tool with some unique features like shape recognition and cross deleting, allowing your fingers to do the talking.

The interface of iDesk is refreshingly clean, with more than 80% of the screen being taken up by a document. Two menu bars at the top and bottom offer a wide variety of options: up top you’ll find access to your library of documents; e-mail facilities; trash and new document creation. Down below is where all the customization happens, including the ability to draw an object, write text, change the colour of an object, move objects about, copy objects and an undo function. A help guide is also present to ensure that you’re making full use of iDesk.

The application is intuitive, particularly in the two features noted in the opening paragraph: shape recognition and cross deleting. The former, as the name suggests, recognizes a rough shape that you draw and turns it into a properly balanced object. Uneven circles become perfectly smooth, odd rectangles transform into having perfectly parallel edges etc. There does remain enough intuition for iDesk to recognize custom shapes, meaning you aren’t limited to standard shapes. The cross delete feature is equally cool, where you simply write an “X” over an object that you want deleted. However, this is great right up until the point where you want to draw an X (for example, the technical symbol for a lightbulb contains an X in it).

Adding text into a box also reveals another much-welcomed feature: auto-resizing. You don’t choose the size of the text that you want, rather simply write everything that you want to and iDesk will take care of the rest. A certain amount of space is automatically provided against the edges of the object you are writing text in, to ensure that your document looks clean and is easily readable. Whilst this doesn’t work perfectly for circles, in straight-line objects it works fine.

Unfortunately, there are a number of problems associated with iDesk. The most concerning issue is that whenever you create a document or quit the application and reload it, objects and text become heavily distorted to the point of being near-unusable. Until this problem is sorted, iDesk’s greatest feature remains its most fatal flaw. In addition, once you’ve selected a colour for an object it seems that there is no way for to go back to white, and the colouring carries on to new objects. Finally, the undo function failed to operate correctly in our testing.

Until these flaws are rectified, iDesk remains simply a nifty idea rather than a much-welcomed reality.

Like Flick Fishing, Doodle Fishing engages the cast with a “flick” of the phone and a flick back to “set the hook” when a fish bites. The reel-in is a bit flimsier; instead of dialing a rotary spool, the user simply slides a bar across the bottom to control reeling speed.

The game includes an map which the player navigates around by boat, which is controlled by a small steering wheel and throttle. When a location is selected, the player taps the screen to initiate the fishing expedition.
